Two lengths, ready to paste.
David Biddle is an author of off-beat, odd-angled stories. His take on fiction emphasizes social science puzzles, the ambiguity of blended heritage, and unasked questions about human psychology. He has published fiction, essays, journalism, and op-eds with numerous publications ranging from The Harvard Business Review and BioCycle to Jerry Jazz Musician and Bull magazine.
David Biddle has been a freelance writer since 1985, when RAIN: Journal published his first article, on appropriate technology education. He has published fiction, essays, journalism, and op-eds with The Harvard Business Review, BioCycle, Huffington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Jerry Jazz Musician, Bull, Talking Writing, and others. For more than a decade he was a contributing editor at InBusiness. He spent thirty years in environmental planning and consulting for government, business, and nonprofit clients, founded the Philadelphia Commercial Recycling Council and served as its first executive director, and retired from that work as recycling coordinator for the City of Philadelphia.
His novel Sound Effect Infinity, from Flat Branch Press, is a future paranormal, music-infused mystery set in 2052. A Columbia, Missouri police sergeant is sent after the latest incarnation of Elvis Presley. A Philadelphia tabloid reporter, a paranormal scientist, and a defense contractor close in on the same stretch of country, where belief is ordinary and loud guitar music may be the thing that matters. Flat Branch Press published the definitive paperback and ebook on May 5, 2026. An earlier edition came from The Story Plant. His debut novel, Old Music for New People, was published by The Story Plant in 2021.
The fiction stays with social science puzzles, the ambiguity of blended heritage, and questions about human psychology that usually go unasked.

It's 2052. Sergeant Juanita Carbajal of the Columbia Police Department in Missouri is assigned the job of tracking down the latest incarnation of Elvis Presley who is haunting the local countryside. Lincoln Koufax, a pop music reporter for Philadelphia-based tabloid Deep-Fried America News, has flown into the region to interview a woman claiming to have had an affair with The King. None of this should be that surprising to anyone. Out in the center of the country, belief in anything and everything is now the norm.
But there might be more going on than your standard rural legend. Cecil Miller, a young paranormal scientist hears a voice telling him to travel to Central Missouri in order to find Lucas Fancher out in the boonies. Fancher, a onetime disciple of the infamous rock mystic Jim Morrison, could hold the key to everything. No one's seen Fancher in years, but he's bought up thousands of acres of Missouri farmland that include numerous decommissioned intercontinental ballistic missile silos. Chit Kressel, a defense intelligence contractor seemingly on a mission from the highest levels, thinks Fancher has stumbled onto one of the most important secrets of mind control ever. Kressel needs to do something drastic in the name of national security and he's only got a few days to do it.
Sound Effect Infinity is a future paranormal mystery rolled up in puzzles about the real magic of music wrapped in questions about the power of the human mind—totally off the literary grid.
